L.O: To apply the theoretical framework to media texts.

Theoretical Framework is four major concepts,or ideas, which form the basis of the subject content

  • Media Language
  • Media Institutions
  • Media Audiences
  • Media Representation

Media Language

This covers terms used, how texts are constructed and how the messages are conveyed. It includes:

  • CameraWork (Cinematography)

Extreme close up:

Close up:

Medium close up:

Mid shot:

Wide shot:

Very wide shot:

extremely wide shot:



  • Soundtrack
Soundtrack includes anything you can hear in a film/tv show.
this includes: Music, Sound effects, Dialogue and voiceovers. These can be diegetic or non diegetic.



  • Mise-en-scene
This includes everything that can be seen in frame such as: Costumes, Props, Setting, Hair & Makeup, lighting, Actor positioning, Body Language and Facial Expression



  • Editing
Editing includes: transitions, Pace & speed of cuts, CGI, Green Screening and Graphics, All the POST PRODUCTION work on a moving page
