What is Media?


Definition: "The main means of mass communication"

Types: Social Media (Instagram, Twitter, Youtube), Newspapers, Magazines, Films, Websites, Reviews, Video Games, Apps, Advertisements, Podcasts, Streaming Music

Purpose of Different Types of Media: To give information, To sell something, contact, Entertainment, Social Change, To make Money and Popularity

Media Influence

Media influences me by making me laugh through watching funny content like my favourite YouTubers. In addition we can learn new things that older generations maybe didn't.

 1) Media shouldn't be allowed to embarrass or humiliate people. I believe that media shouldn't treat its users badly as people have their own opinions on what they believe in. In addition, embarrassing or humiliating people can have extremely bad consequences. Most media is made for entertainment or advertising, so if you don't like something that's on there you should just continue on as it is none of your business (unless it is something truly bad). Media Language Analysis

 Tuesday 22nd September 2020 l.o: to analyse a media text using Media Language.    Camerawork The camera shot is a medium-long shot and this is given to show us more about the character. In this shot we can see that he has a gun, connoting that this is a spy movie. We can also see that he has a more determined/mad expression, which we wouldn't be able to see or take note of if it was a long shot. In addition, there are shadows, which shows that there are more things hidden in the background other than 007. Mise-en-scene The fact that 007 is wearing all black could signify that he is going to be sneaking around undercover, looking more commando then professional. Also, he has a gun and holster, showing that he knows what he is doing and is ready for what he is doing. By showing the watch on his left wrist means that it could be something important, such as a spy gadget, because if it wasn't important, it wouldn't be shown (or it could advertise a brand such as a rolex). Thursday 21st January 2021 L/O: To apply narrative theory to our own ideas. 1) Sex in the city 2) Silence of the lambs 3) Harry Potter 4) The Blair Witch Project OR  Slenderman. 5) Polar express 6) Planet of the apes 7) Aladdin 8) Night at the museum Spider-Man movie, Normal day of saving the world for Peter Parker. Dr Octopus and Kingpin work together to cause a space time continuum rip, causing people to vanish. The only people left existing are Spider-Man, and a varied range of villains.  Peter has to track these villains down and fight them in order to collect components and to assemble the machine allowing people to be returned.
