DPS Article Draft/Idea:
What does Animal Welfare mean to you? Is it the way owners treat their pets, whether it's about them lacking in research and understanding of how to take care of and train a pet? Or is it deeper, about animals being used for testing or being locked in the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums; estimated 75% of these innocent beings mistreated and abused . Wherever you stand on this topic, we can all agree on one thing. Animals. Deserve. To. Be. Cherished. This is the battle that we, the Welfare Warriors, strive to win.
Annually, 1.6 Trillion wild animals are killed because of people's actions. Isn't that a shocking number? If this is the count for wild animals, imagine the pain domesticated pets must feel when their owners force them into lifestyles not suited for them, or even when they cause severe harm to these poor pets! As many of you educated readers will know, dogs are omnivores, and require meat to gain protein in their diet, however many owners are forcing their pets into a vegan lifestyle. In doing this, some of these owners are causing great harms to their pets. Due to the lack of protein intake from a vegan diet, many of these animals face vitamin D and B deficiencies. In addition 36% of dogs that suffer from health disorders are vegan.

Farm animals are among some of the domesticated pets owned by people. Many of the innocent creatures raised purely for dairy, eat and eggs are abused by the farmers that own them, and the horrif thing is: most of the abuse is completely legal! Factory farms are one of the most well-known perpetrators of these offences. Animals are subjected to routinely performed mutilations, cramped living spaces and manipulation to benefit consumers. Every last one of these practices are harmful to these poor animals. Furthermore, these factory farms use many other inhumane methods of farming animals; many include force feeding, tail docking, teeth clipping, dehorning and debeaking. Now, you may be asking - what can we do to help fight this? Well, the RSPCA are a leading group in helping us fight against this, calling them at 0300 1234 999 whenever you see acts like this is the best course of action
